Hello, my name is Mariusz Cieśla and my job is to make the web a better place.

It’s black!

In one of his moments of clarity, Kuba said that I change my blog designs more often than I write – and it might be just true, because guess what – the design has been changed again. I gathered some feedback on the one that I introduced lately and it was mostly negative (excluding the comments that have been left here on the site), so I decided to sit on my butt and re-design the thing from scratch again. Those of you who follow me on Twitter most probably noticed few mockups I’ve posted on my Behance portfolio but then, there was silence.

More or less – I’ve been planning to release the layout you see now on 1st of July, but since I was out of town for few days with my laptop, without Internet but with lots of inspiration around me, I finished it. Whole mockup stage has been finished, the HTML is more-or-less implemented by now. I call this a ‘public beta’ stage, since I know about few quirks that still have to be fixed. Anyway, since it’s a beta, I’m waiting for your feedback – feel free to drop me a comment if you think there’s still improvement to do and I will work on that.

Blog gets a massive redesign (and how I did it)

Yes, I know that last redesign wasn’t so long ago, but – I’ll be honest with you – theme that I used before was made as an experiment and I wasn’t really satisfied with it. The new one is more my style – colorful yet minimalistic, more crafty, using sans-serif fonts here and there for the typographic contrast between headers and content. For now, I think it’s here to stay, unless I find another source of inspiration that will strike me so much that I’ll decide to change the layout of my blog. As for me, I’m very happy with the overall effect – I know it needs some tweaking here and there, but that’s something I will be doing in free time, since it doesn’t require as much effort as working on the whole Wordpress theme made from scratch. If you’re interested in the process of redesigning the blog itself, read after the jump.

Project goes live: Scrum For Success

s4s_blogpost

One of the great sides of working in Lunar Logic Polska is the fact that it has really cool internal and side projects. We’ve got RubyTime, utype, Rubyusers and hell lot of fun things to do while not working on a paid project. That absolutely changed my point of view on internal projects, since in my previous company, working on internals was basically an equivalent for being sent to the quarry.

Recently, Paul, also known as Agile Activist, started to run his podcast about agile project management with Andy of CodeSprinters. Since I was working on my paid project mostly as a consultant – jump in, fix few things, help team accomplish something, jump out – Paul came to me with a proposition of making iTunes Artwork and site for his podcast.
