Recently, I have been doing few projects that required designing a logo (and designed a logo for a local Ruby Conference logo contest). The biggest problem for me and probably most designers I know is getting a point to start – starting a logo design requires not only research and brainstorming about the brand itself and meanings of the words used in the name, but also knowing the universal patterns that could be seen the logos over the years, logos of competition and current logo trends. I have assembled a list of sites, books and magazines that you should check if you are need logo inspiration. Here we go!

Yes, that is correct – Graham Smith, the founder and author of ImJustCreative needs the best logo you have designed, ever. It is not a branding contest, it is not elitist gallery that tells you “this logo is better than the other one”. It is just pure, shameless self-promotion. So – if you are an identity designer or you just created few logos in your career, send your favourite work to ImJustCreative, include description and appropriate files. All the rules that you have to obey are mentioned in the post.
So – if you have your favorite logo and you want to promote your work – go ahead and submit!

When someone says “Norway”, some people see colorful cottages, historical heritage and fjords. Other see country full of sleek and clean design, expensive boutiques and modern interiors, so typical for scandinavian countries. The fact is – both are true. Norway is a rich, modern, tech-savvy country based on very firm and solid historical base. As we all know – when you’re moderately rich, you can afford designer stuff which almost always looks great, so you can see design almost everywhere (especially in big cities).
I’ve been in Norway for a brief period of time as a front-end developer for my former employer who sent me to Oslo for release-party of the project I’ve worked on. When there, I did some research alongside with some long evening walks thru the Oslo streets to find design inspiration which could be used later for different projects I’ll be working on during my life. Here’s some inspiration from what logos surround Norwegians.

Well, that’s quite a shock. I was browsing thru my RSS just now to find that the logo I designed for ITSBA has been featured on Design Your Way’s Show me some well designed logos! article.
I’m very happy with the fact, especially that I’m a DYW’s reader for a long time and it was always one of the places where I was seeking for inspiration while designing. Yay!

I’m happy to announce that small project I’ve been working on during past few days – ITSBA has gone live. ITSBA is a local alliance of (currently six) small webdevelopment companies and teams targeted on helping each other grow and improve visibility of small companies in the local market. My work in the project was basically everything — starting from brand & logo design, ending at XHTML/CSS for the ‘flyer’ site. Nothing really complex, but I had quite short timespan to do it all from scratch.
Anyway, I’m happy with the overall results, so are the people I made it for. What do you think?
