When I was rethinking the design for my blog, drawing grids on paper etc., I was struck by the very basic question – “Should I still care about optimizing for 1024×768″? First question, about optimizing for IE6, I answered a while ago, by simply not doing it, because I honestly think that IE6 should become a thing of the past as soon as possible. But – in the era of widescreens and double screen setups, should we still take 1024×768 as the basic resolution to start with?

In one of his moments of clarity, Kuba said that I change my blog designs more often than I write – and it might be just true, because guess what – the design has been changed again. I gathered some feedback on the one that I introduced lately and it was mostly negative (excluding the comments that have been left here on the site), so I decided to sit on my butt and re-design the thing from scratch again. Those of you who follow me on Twitter most probably noticed few mockups I’ve posted on my Behance portfolio but then, there was silence.
More or less – I’ve been planning to release the layout you see now on 1st of July, but since I was out of town for few days with my laptop, without Internet but with lots of inspiration around me, I finished it. Whole mockup stage has been finished, the HTML is more-or-less implemented by now. I call this a ‘public beta’ stage, since I know about few quirks that still have to be fixed. Anyway, since it’s a beta, I’m waiting for your feedback – feel free to drop me a comment if you think there’s still improvement to do and I will work on that.
