Inspiration Bits: Nike SB, “This is Qatar”

Nike SB has put together an awesome video of their skating team “invading” Qatar with their skateboards. Documentary-styled video features such skateboarders as Dani Lopez, Dani Rubio, Dani Lebron, Juan Algora and Adrian Del Campo, was produced by Ivan Jimenez and filmed by Enrique Mayor. Great tricks, great views, interesting insights in skateboarding in Qatar. Definitely worth your time.

Asylum 5D

Just found in my RSS feed (in Polish, unfortunately, so won’t link it to international audience)

Virtual Magic, motion studio from Poland sponsored by AMD, is working on a project called “Asylum 5D”, 12 minute animation that will be shown in special 4D cinemas. While watching, you will be able to feel the environment, as screening will be accompanied by odours, feeling of blowing wind etc.
Viewers will be able to dip into gloom atmosphere of the asylum and feel the dark mood – says director, Dariusz Zduńczyk. Apart from realistic animation, cinemas will be perpared to make viewers smell odours, feel rain on their faces or insects crawling over their legs.

Sounds awesome. Don’t know about you, but I can’t wait.

Color & Design Inspiration: Wycinanki

If you’re living in Central & Eastern Europe, you’ve probably seen them or at least head about them. If you travelled to Poland, Ukraine or similar and took your time to look deeper into the folk culture, you might have seen them too.

Wycinanki are very strong element of local folk culture in Poland and Ukraine and are especially visible when you take a trip to the countryside, away from the smog and noise of the city. What are those? In very brief description, one can say that they are state-of-the-art, intricate floral motifs cut in colored paper that are being glued to paper or wood for decoration. As simple as that. In some regions of Eastern Europe, the art of creating them has been taken to a whole new level and local designers and artists often use them as inspiration. Maybe they can inspire you, too? Get ready to get bombed with local culture inspiration and inspired designs, to get that creativity flowing.
