So, another print work done for my company goes live. This time it’s… KUDOS! I know that if you’re a geek or stuff like that, you probably get the whole idea of Kudos, since it’s used on many sites and forums out there. In case you don’t know what that is, I’ll explain what it is in our company.

Kudos is Lunar Logic Polska’s idea for internal appreciation system. We are a small company that can and likes to appreciate what you do. If you are an awesome guy/girl that makes the company shine in any way – by supporting open source communities, helping other companies by making fixes to their tools that you’re using, helping with building of company’s image in the outside, you can receive Kudos. Everyone can submit Kudos for anyone, the only limit being real reason to do it.
Since the beginning of the idea, Kudos were simply a card with a small gift from the company attached. After a while, we decided that we want to go for our unique, branded cards and I was the one to design those. First thing that hit me when I heard the whole idea of Kudos was how back in the ’80s when Poland was a purely communist country, the Party awarded factory workers, miners etc. if they were delivering on schedule. I combined this with some vintage colors and photos of communist affection and appreciation and here’s the effect. Feedback here or Behance greatly appreciated. Cheers! If you’re a reader of my blog and you like what I do, you can now become a sponsor and buy an ad on my blog! The ads are handled by AdTaily, the guys that have reached the finals of SeedCamp Europe in London.
The whole idea behind displaying the ads is very easy – you just click the “Become a sponsor” link in my sidebar, the AdTaily widget is shown, you choose how many days you want the ad to be shown, AdTaily tells you the total price (currently it’s 1EUR + operational costs for a day of displaying your ad, may change in the future depending how good it will go), you upload the image, pay and voila – your ad on my blog! I think it can’t be easier, so if you’d like to advertise on my blog – go and click!
As you probably know (and my sidebar stands), I am currently employed at the local Ruby web development company Lunar Logic Polska. Since our boss is an agile activist and certified scrum master, whole development process is adapted to the agile rules of project management. I like the way of the agile and lately I got really interested in trying to move agile rules of project leading to design projects.
Anyway, to the point – one of my internal assignments at the office lately was to design agile planning poker cards based on the branding that we already have. In case you don’t know what planning poker is, I’ll quote PlanningPoker.com on that:
The idea behind planning poker is simple. Individual stories are presented for estimation. After a period of discussion, each participant chooses from his own deck the numbered card that represents his estimate of how much work is involved in the story under discussion. All estimates are kept private until each participant has chosen a card. At that time, all estimates are revealed and discussion can begin again.
