Inspiration: Streets of Kraków

For 25 years living in Kraków, I must say, that it’s easy place to get inspired – you can just get out of home and take a walk thru the streets. As any other big, popular city, it’s full of graffiti and street art, made either by local or passing by artists. We also have few local very good graffiti crews, full of real artists, including probably the biggest and oldest one – DONS (is it still Dealers Of New School? Used to be when I was active on local graffiti scene – props, guys!). Here are few pieces made by both local and passing by writers on walls of my city (click to enlarge).

Inspiration: Punk, hardcore and post-hardcore bands

Just recently, I came back to my all-time favorite music which is punk, hardcore and every offspring of those two. Since hardcore rock is an incredibly big genre, it’s hard to assign tags to every kind of music I am listening to – I just call them post-hardcore, no matter if others call it mathcore, metalcore or even moustachecore (yes, that’s true, there are people who actually call bands that play something between hardcore and southern rock “moustachecore”).

First Look: Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”

As you probably have read before, I absolutely love Tim Burton and his freaky ways of showing things. I was absolutely delighted when I heard that Tim is preparing his own version of classic “Alice in Wonderland”. Here are some first shots that have been published – you can feel the weirdness and spookyness dripping from those, I love it.

Shelf surfing: Books I own (and you should, too)

As you might or might not know, I do not have a design degree currently. I plan to get one some day, but at the moment, I just finished my university with a degree in a totally different matter (computer science. And even though it was not the best choice considering my current work, I think having background in more tech side like programming, servers, databases etc. helps, when you work with the web). Everything I’ve learnt about design comes from books, magazines, blogs, websites, local design communities like Digart and trial & error.

The following is a list of books that helped me learn what I know now, with my comments. Hope you will find it useful, and if you do – please drop me a line in comments or Twitter. Anyway, here we go!
